A quick around most good sized book stores will reveal an enormous range of books on the subject from an almost equally wide range of often 'self proclaimed' relationship gurus. The question is this, are they largely a scam or do they really work in improving your relationship?

While there will always be some relationship guides which are too biased in one direction or another, some of them are in fact very insightful and can genuinely help struggling relationships or even save marriages. There are plenty of real testimonials on the various shopping and book sites to bear witness to this fact. It seems that understanding the opposite sex does not have to remain such a mystery after all and that it's more that reasonable to assume that we can all learn how to be better in relationships rather than just leaving things to 'chance'.

As with all things, knowledge is power. It's only when you empower yourself with a better understanding of relationships that you are able to really make improvements and enjoy a greater level of happiness within them. I think that for far too long we have been sold an overtly romantic idea of love in that it's only valid when it happens magically and through some kind of luck however real life simply does not work like that. My advice is you need to study the art of relationships just the same as you would study how to fix a car engine. That's being realistic.
