There are all kinds of myths, rumors, and outright lies out there about cheating. The sooner you can figure out what is fact and fiction, the sooner you'll be in a position to move on to life after cheating and put your cheating spouse's cheating behind you.
Myth #1 - Everybody's doing it. While it may seem that the world has gone all topsy turvy lately and that everywhere you look some other athlete, politician, or actor is coming out of the proverbial closet (since that's where many cheaters seem to hide these days) and admitting affairs with one or more women. The truth is that not everyone is doing it these days. For an even more astonishing truth you'll be shocked to discover that men aren't the only ones doing the cheating.
Myth #2 - Men cheat because sex at home is less than spectacular. That isn't true at all. You can have an amazing sex life that brings on displays of fireworks for hours on end each and every night and still have your man stepping out on you. It isn't all about sex and it isn't always about sex. That doesn't mean you couldn't stand to spice up your sex life a little bit or maybe even tone it down some. The bottom line is that if cheating is going on it's a safe bet that something outside the bedroom is to blame.
Myth #3 - People cheat in search of harder, leaner bodies. This couldn't be further from the truth. Most cheaters who are interviewed agree that looks had little to do with the cheating at all. Most of the time the other person meets a need or fills a void that exists in the marriage. The need being met by the other person may even be a need that the cheater was previously unaware existed. So stop getting out the tape measure and start digging deeper than skin deep to find out what the real skinny on the cheating is.
Myth #4 - He/She wouldn't cheat if he/she loved you. Love has nothing to do with cheating in almost all of the cases where it happens. Most of the time you are not coming into the picture at all. With the average cheater, cheating is about "me, me, and me" and not about the person the cheater loves most. It's not a lie when a cheater tells you he or she still loves you after cheating. It isn't an all or nothing proposition. They do not have to stop loving you in order to cheat even though it most definitely may affect the way you feel about your cheating partner.
